Rogue Lemon Collective is a genre-defying string quintet of classically trained musicians who blur the lines between jazz, rock, folk, and original music. Blending bold arrangements with live improvisation, the group treats the string ensemble like a band—grooving, exploring, and reinventing the concert experience. Their program will feature original works alongside inventive reimaginings, including a premiere arrangement of Jobim’s Chega de Saudade and a striking classical-meets-klezmer take on Paint It Black by The Rolling Stones. Expect an energetic, unpredictable afternoon, where chamber instruments meet the spirit of a jam session.
Founded in 2022, Rogue Lemon Collective is a Los Angeles–based string quintet that treats chamber instruments like a living, breathing band. What began as a string quartet focused on inventive cover arrangements quickly evolved into something broader and more adventurous—embracing improvisation and original music rooted in jazz, folk, rock, and blues. Made up of classically trained musicians who aren’t confined by classical conventions, Rogue Lemon Collective thrives on spontaneity, groove, and group interplay. Their performances blur the line between composition and improvisation, creating music that feels equally refined and raw. The group has collaborated with a wide range of artists, including singer-songwriter Ebony Loren, guitarist Anthony Plant, and pianists Larry Goldings and Jacob Hiser. In addition to their live performances, Rogue Lemon Collective recently released the jazz album Between Dreams & Daylight, recorded with bassist Mauricio Morales and pianist Adam Hersch.
